The name Imhotep means “He Who Comes in Peace” or “He Who Brings Peace.”
He lived in the 3rd millennium BCE, during the reign of Pharaoh Djoser (3rd Dynasty), serving as vizier, high priest of Ra at Heliopolis, architect of the Saqqara complex, and founder of Egyptian medicine.

After his death, Imhotep was deified for his wisdom and worshipped for centuries as a god of healing and creative intelligence.
The Greeks identified him with Asclepius, their god of medicine.
